Formosa Oolong Tea

Big Leaves. Oolong (also spelt Wulong, or Wu Long) is literally 'black dragon' tea. A semi-fermented tea, the leaves are wilted in direct sunlight, then shaken in bamboo baskets to lightly bruise the edges. Next, the leaves are spread out to dry until the surface of the leaf turns slightly yellow. Oolongs are always whole leaf teas, never broken by rolling. Both refreshing and delicious; its long leaves unfurl to deliver the most exquisite, rich flavour - with sweet chestnut undertones.

Taste Notes : Sweet Chestnut
Oolong Tea

Brewing :  One teaspoon per cup. Boiling water is too fierce for this Oolong tea. So, for just-off the boil water ( 80c ), simply boil the kettle, let it sit for two to three minutes, then brew your tea, 2 - 4 mins, a little honey or sugar, with or without milk. The leaves are suitable for one re-steeping.

Origin : Taiwan
Ingredients : Taiwan oolong tea

Details : Originating in China and primarily produced in a few Chinese provinces and Taiwan, oolong is made from tea leaves that have been partially oxidised and twisted to produce a tea that is somewhere between more robust black tea and delicate green tea. Although it looks different to black, green and white teas, oolong comes from the same plant: the leaves of Camelia sinensis.

This is the second pack I’ve purchased,, this time I bought 2 as I like it so much.

Another winner from Tugboat. Great flavour - lovely for afternoon tea break and talking with friends over Zoom. (Roll on the lifting of restrictions).

Nothing to add to my previous 5-star review (am I alone in finding this a brilliant gentle-tasting brew?) Ordered along with Russian Caravan (another favourite from Tugboat) and got a free sample of their Lapsang Souchong. I had always considered Lapsang Souchong a bit of an 'effete' tea, but theirs makes a fine, robust brew - also very much recommended.

Excellent for choice, quality, advice and delivery

I'm no expert, but Formosa Oolong has become my favourite brew. I placed my order on the website one afternoon and received it the following morning. I have shopped with Tugboat for years (since their days in Pannier Market) and wouldn't bother going anywhere else for my choice of teas. They know their product and offer a superbly professional and speedy service.
