Wonderful, tarry smokiness to this most fantastic Lapsang Souchong tea. It is said to have been discovered by accident, during the Qing era, when an army delayed the drying of the tea. After the soldiers left, in order to dry the leaves quickly to get them to market on time, the workers lit pinewood and hung the leaves over the fire.The smoked flavour created a sensation - a new tea was born. I love everything about this loose leaf tea.

Ingredients : China black tea
Brewing : Use one teaspoon of loose leaf tea per cup and always use freshly boiled water. Allow to brew for 3-5 minutes according to taste, depending on your preference for strength. Enjoy with or without milk.
Details : Lapsang Souchong is a black tea from the Fujian province of China, famous for its smoky aroma and flavour. To create this, the finished tea is given some extra drying over smoking pine fire.

A nice versatile tea.
I like to either make a fairly delicate cup using the suggested 1 teaspoon, or double up for something more intensely smoky, or sometimes I like to blend it with something like the Kenya pekoe fannings for a nice rounded smoky flavour.
Absolutely delicious, I'll certainly be ordering more.
I bought this to try something a bit different and is now one of my favourites. I often add it to my second steeping of green Earl grey!
I love every tea that we have bought from the Tug Boat. The Lapsang is bar far my favorite. Not overly strong in caffeine, nor heavily flavored; it has a light, subtle smoky aroma, and it never gets too bitter even if I accidently forget and let it steep too long.
Great tea. The smoky aroma reminds me of my favourite stout: Smoke, from Padstow brewery.
