Tea & Health
Drink tea everyday to keep the doctor away.
Perhaps that is a slight exaggeration, but it is true that tea is good for you.
Whilst we firmly believe that enjoying your tea is the most important reason for drinking it, it’s rather good to know the facts and be able to feel a bit smug about all that goodness you are doing to yourself.
So, sit back, enjoy your cuppa and ponder the health benefits of tea...
For a start it's chock full of antioxidants, those little particles that counterbalance damage done to our bodies. One study concluded that 3 cups of tea a day has approximately the same antioxidant power as eating six apples.
Fluid. Fluid is vital to life, and whilst humans can survive weeks without food, they can only survive a few days without fluid. Approximately 40% of the nation’s fluid intake will come from tea; a cup of tea is 99.5% water.
Taken on its own, tea has no calories.
Drinking tea (without added sugar) has been associated with a number of beneficial effects in preventing tooth decay. The tea plant (Camellia Sinensis) extracts fluoride from the soil, which then accumulates in its leaves. For this reason tea is a very rich natural source of fluoride.
Tea is a source of the mineral manganese, essential for bone growth and body development.
There you have it. Obviously tea is vital to our health & happiness.
