Wonderful, tarry smokiness to this most fantastic China tea. It is said to have been discovered by accident, during the Qing era, when an army delayed the drying of the tea. After the soldiers left, in order to dry the leaves quickly to get them to market on time, the workers lit pinewood and hung the leaves over the fire.The smoked flavour created a sensation - a new tea was born. I love everything about this loose leaf tea.
Brewing the best cup.1 teaspoon per cup. Freshly boiling water, brew your tea for 4 minutes, a good rule of thumb is 3-5 minutes for most black teas (depending on your preference for strength) and enjoy with or without milk
Lapsang Souchong is a black tea from the Fujian province of China, famous for its smoky aroma and flavour. To create this, the finished tea is given some extra drying over smoking pine fire.

My husband drinks this tea and only likes your loose leaf variety. I ordered it online as we don’t go out much these days and was really impressed that it arrived the next day.
Hope to get into Truro soon to browse the shop. Anyway it is very good and I see someone blends it with Earl Grey so will try that.
